Interesting conversation over lunch today regarding the difference between Entrepreneurs and Leaders. It seems many people think that all entrepreneurs are great leaders and all great leaders would make great entrepreneurs. If only that were true!
I took a little test to determine your strongest attributes, and it really got me reflecting on how those map to leadership versus being an entrepreneur. Strong leaders have clear understanding of an organizations mission/vision/goals and is able to communicate each very clearly internally and externally. Strong leaders enable their teams by empowering each member through an understanding of their individual value/contribution in the overall picture. We hope all entrepreneurs possess those attributes, but what we really expect from entrepreneurs is for them to see an unmet need or gap in the way others see the world. We expect them to have an undying passion that drives them to risk everything to meet that need. I certainly don’t mean to imply that strong leaders shouldn’t be passionate, far from it, but when you look at the ordering of those strengths, the successful entrepreneur likely has the PASSION characteristic above all others.
Where do you fit?
